Description	The Middlesex Fells, a large conservation area just north of Boston, has been protected for over 100 years as one of the first MDC holdings. Its varied topography of hills and streams and swamps and ponds provides a range of habitats. We will see about 18 ferns, including Virginia Chain and Crested and Bootts Wood ferns. Wear protective clothing for a 2 ½ mile hike. Bring a hand lens if you have one. See http://nefern.info for updates.
