Description

New England's ferns are perennial, and by saving energy over the winter they get a jump on the growing season. By early May most will be uncurling and displaying enough morphology to be identified. With luck and favorable logistics we will see nearly two dozen species of ferns and club-mosses, before the angiosperm undergrowth becomes dense and the bugs get bad.
